8.15.25 — (LOS ANGELES, CA) — Southern California post-rock/indie group In Transmission has officially released their new EP, Betterment, today (August 15) on all major streaming platforms, including Spotify and Apple Music. The cinematic and emotionally expansive collection is also available on limited-edition vinyl via the band’s Bandcamp store.
Produced by Beau Burchell (Saosin, Chevelle, Senses Fail, ERRA), Betterment marks the next chapter in the band’s decade-long evolution, moving toward a more vocal-forward, alternative-driven sound.
Formed in 2011 by guitarist/vocalist Martin Diaz (formerly of hardcore act Mikoto), In Transmission began as an outlet for exploring spacey, melodic soundscapes influenced by post-rock pioneers like Explosions in the Sky, Mogwai, and Sigur Rós. Joined by longtime friends Garrett Carroll (drums, A Music Box Serenade), Daniel Cardoza (guitar, A Fall Farewell), Darrell Schwaigger (bass), and Jerome De Leon (guitar), the band has grown from crafting instrumental crescendos to delivering a dynamic mix of post-rock, indie, and heavier rock textures.
To coincide with the release, the band recently unveiled the official music video for lead single “Catching Up”, now on YouTube. The track blends atmospheric textures with raw vulnerability, offering a glimpse into the emotional depth of Betterment. Drums for the record were tracked in the serene San Gabriel Mountains at Pale Moon Ranch, with additional recording at Burchell’s private studio in Temecula, CA. Mastering was handled by Alan Douches (West West Side Music).
Betterment is a meditation on personal growth, healing, and the quiet moments that inspire change, delivered with In Transmission’s signature fusion of post-rock intensity and ambient layering. The EP leans further into post-hardcore and alt-rock influences, pairing heavy rhythms with Martin Diaz’s layered, immersive vocals. Lyrically, it’s both a personal reflection and a rallying cry for society to “do better” in a world that needs it.
