Electronica songwriter-producer Heather Baker (aka Antiwave) has been making quite a name for herself with the recent release of her debut track, “Holiday Heart”. The Long Beach based artist premiered the single via tastemaker music blog Surviving The Golden Age and has unveiled a new single from her artistic palette entitled “Agent of Sleep” via pop culture website Buzznet. “Agent of Sleep” is exclusively streaming now on Buzznet and will be available via Spotify and Apple Music this Friday, 10/6.
Antiwave crafts 90’s nostalgia-laced tracks with trip hop, electronica and pop elements thoughtfully woven in. The artist Heather Baker, currently plays guitar for pop-indie sensation NoMBe, who recently supported Bonobo on a North American tour and will be supporting alt-J into November. Antiwave crafts songs that draw influence from the 80’s, 90’s and adds her unique, modern approach. “Agent of Sleep” was self-produced, written and engineered by Baker as well as mixed and co-produced with collaborator Nathan Jenkins.
“I’d like to think my music harkens back to the genres that had the greatest influence on me as I was growing up in the 90’s including bands like the The Sneaker Pimps, Garbage and Goldfrapp.” says Baker. “Antiwave gives me a purpose to continue adding to the genre that shaped the musician I am today in hopes of nurturing the scene I care about so deeply.”
‘The driven sound of “Agent of Sleep,” is about the two entities that inhabit my consciousness and I’m sure many others. The side of hope and reason and the side of defeat and self-destruction. The song entertains a pseudo-fictional storyline of assisted suicide becoming a new-age antidepressant, a terrifying prospect’.
